Indian Railway manages "Catering and Tourism Corporation Services" (IRCTC) from 2010 onwards. IRCTC aims to enhance passengers experience with Indian Railways by providing various services to passengers. before starting Online Ticket Booking also known as E-booking by Indian Railways passengers had to wait for long hours in queue at railway counters. Booking can be done by visiting railway website www.irctc.co.in as well as through mobile phone app or SMS. Railway also provides facility to book I-tickets which can be booked online and are delivered by post to your address. Passengers can also open their annual account by paying an upfront annual fee. This scheme is called as Rolling Deposit Scheme (RDS) Passengers with annual RDS account can also avail traveling discounts. Through this facility user can book e-ticket from the advance money in their account.

for cancelling the ticket you should visit www.irctc.co.in. Note that cancellation is not permitted at the Railway Counters. Select the ticket you want to Cancel and click on “Go For Cancellation” button. Select the passenger whose ticket you want to cancel. Cancellation fee will be deducted from the total fare and remaining amount will be Refunded automatically to your account. Sometimes it may happen that your amount is not refunded in such case Railway doesn’t take any responsibility.
Procedure for booking I-ticket is same as E-ticket. In case of I-ticket your ticket will be delivered to you at your Postal Address given at the time of registration.
If you are not available for receiving the ticket anyone on your behalf can take the delivery.
I-tickets will cost you little more than E-tickets as it includes Postage charge. Cancellation of i-ticket should be done from the website. Cancellation of i-ticket is on the same ground as e-ticket.
